After assessing the situation, NAPC brought PageFlex's .edit product to the attention of Tracy
Locke. Moore says, "A lot of products out there aren't very good. You want to know what you're
getting before you sink tens of thousands of dollars into it. We trust NAPC's judgment. If they
bring something to us, we take it seriously, because we know they'll save us a lot of time,
research and anguish."
PageFlex's .edit toolkit enabled Tracy Locke to create a website that lets authorized users access
and edit page layouts through a browser. As a result, Pepsi could give their retailers the ability
to customize offers while constraining their use of photos, layouts and other elements.
"Essentially, it made a sandbox for the retailers to play in," says Moore.
With the success of .edit, Tracy Locke started looking at PageFlex's Storefront product, which
allows companies to easily set up a Web-to-print document customization site, complete with
site skinning, shipping and purchasing options and more, right out of the box.
It proved to be the ideal solution for Hershey's, a new client. For 30 years, Hershey's had been
sponsoring Hershey's Track & Field Games, the largest youth sports program of its kind in North
America with over 400,000 children competing in thousands of local events across the country.
Hershey's had been mailing huge binders to local organizers with several hundred pages of
information and event management forms. In addition, they were spending a lot of money
sending out promotional materials, including posters and banners.
Using Storefront, Tracy Locke was able to create two linked sites to accomplish the same goals
with a lot less effort and expense. The first site hosts an extensive manual on how to run the
event, which can be downloaded as a PDF. The second site includes downloadable templates
for local organizers, already customized with the details of who's putting on the event and
where. "Users simply create an account and give us some info. Then we can pre-load that info
into promotional materials, giving them the flexibility to edit certain things," Moore says.
NAPC helped Tracy Locke turn this into a seamless experience for users, so they didn't feel they
were logging in to different sites.
Seeing how effective PageFlex was for their clients, Tracy Locke is now putting it to use for
themselves.
